Club 33
A real Mint Julep!
I borrowed Mickey Ears for this photo. (And I chopped my hair off last week!)
The balcony outside if the doing room.
View of New Orleans square from Club 33. Ive always stood down there and looked up, wondering what it was like inside the club.
The real way to serve absinthe!
My friend's cake.

Whoa.
I just thought of this the other day. We should get back to using it. Haha. I'll start. =)
I'm at work.
I'm listening to Nick Drake's Bryter Layter.
I'm drinking black tea.
And it's raining outside.

A History of Joes.
Good name for a story, huh?
This is totally random, but there's this toxicologist that I've had a crush on since I started working here (his name is Joe), and he's retiring. He's not attractive or particularly witty, but for whatever reason, we've always just clicked, like in the *spark* way. I haven't worked with him or talked to him in ages, but yesterday, we were in the same meeting and ended up walking back together and chatting. He asked me about my art and we talked a little about that, and about art and music in general.
I was watching Before Sunrise the night before and am just intrigued by the instant connection people have sometimes. And thought about this with me and Joe, and how when we first met it was there, and even now, years later, it's still there, like that giddiness of a crush.
And then there was Watermelon Music Joe. Man, to this day, that smile still kills me. Too bad nothing ever came of that. I think I was too nervous on the "date" we went on. Haha. Oh well....
And then there was Joe Joe. Nothing much to say about that. Haha, expect that it definitely made me realize what I DIDN'T want and I guess in some way marked a metaphorical change/shift from my college self to now.
Anyways, just little things I was thinking. I should get some lunch and get back to work.

Here are the few photos I took at the Cream event this past weekend. I think I was on such cute overload that I forgot to take more.

VENT!
The only thing keeping me from ripping out chunks of my hair is Bjork's Vespertine Live. I'm literally buried under hundreds of pages and my computer keeps freaking out.
Vespertine is the most beautiful album ever.
It sounds like leaves falling,
The sun setting,
Dreams parting,
And what I imagine my internal landscape to sound like.
I think that's why it calms me down so much.

Made for walkin'
Who will I always take shoe advice from in the future? Bianca. I got the boots today and I love them. I wore them to dinner with a black dress. :)

My place in 1920.
Church and 20th. My apartment building is at the intersection on the left. The part is on the right. Neat, huh?

ACE
I know you've been there before, but I still had to post some photos from the Ace in Palm Springs. It's just so beautiful out there that it's hard not to take photos everywhere.
I love the fire place design day and night. We mostly just sat out there on our patio.
This is an "I want to go out" face.
We kept the doors open the whole time for the fresh air.
NIghttime fire.
Elsie wanting to come outside. I was reading by the fire and Drew and Elsie
were cuddling in bed, until she wanted to join me.
I love the views.

An Eggselent 2013
I'm starting off the new year with a photo of breakfast I made. I've challenged myself to cook more this year. I also thought that since breakfast is the first meal of the day it only makes sense to start the New Year at the beginning.
Happy New Year friend!

Elsie's new brother
I forgot to mention on the phone today that we've got another animal in the house now. He's an aligator lizard that Drew named Bucky. Three weeks ago we found him in our shower so Drew caught him and let him go outside. Then about a week ago we found him in the kitchen and Drew was convinced that it was the same lizard. He caught him again and let him go. Then a few days ago Drew found him right inside the front door and decided that Bucky wanted to live with us and as you can see in the pictures below- he's got his own room now.

I had to go buy crickets for him to eat today. Drew asked me to get the crickets sprinkled with calcium. I think the lizard is here to stay...

Inspiration
This was posted in my stockroom when I got back from vacation. After days like yesterday I'm glad it's there for a reminder.
